Model 1000
The Model 1000 is a very wide range CWL monitor, fast response high visibility level warning system.
The system is intended for use in high grade uranium mines to provide fast early warning of potentially high radon WLs. The system incorporates three high visibility LED lamps (green, yellow, red) and an extremely intense strobe light.
Many unique features are incorporated in the system. These include a 4 alpha energy analyzer / window counting system. These windows are internally set to count the alpha activity of the filter from RaA (6 MeV), RaC' (7.7 MeV), ThC' (8.8 MeV), and gross count (>2 MeV). To provide a quick recovery from an alarm condition, the lamp activation is referenced to the RaA count. The counting range allows tracking radon progeny levels exceeding 1000 WL. A visual warning response time of one minute is provided.
Description of the system:
- Water proof aluminum and fiber glass enclosure
- System weight: 14 kg (31.3 lb)
- Physical Dimensions: 24" high, 10" wide, 6" deep.
- Ambient air is pumped at 250 cc/minute through a 0.8 micron filter membrane. The flow rate is servo controlled.
- Detector: Silicon Diffused Junction, 400 square millimeters sensitive area.
- Internal Electronics:
Fast pulse amplifier
Four channel analyzer
Fast single channel analyzer
Fast 3 byte binary counters
Real time clock and calendar
Non volatile data memory
Microprocessor with unique numeric identity
- Data collection: 10 minute intervals for up to several days, retrieved via RS- 232 interface. The RS-232 interface is also used to set the warning lights activation thresholds.
- Fast response single channel analyzer/counter sub-system operates on a 1 minute time base.
- Three high visibility multi LED warning lights and one high intensity strobe.
- Power Supply: Internal rechargeable battery and AC powered charger.
- Software: A PC based DOS program acquires and processes alpha count data and reports periodic and average WL.
