New Summer Student Program
Starting in 2011, alphaNUCLEAR is proud to introduce it's summer student program in conjunction with Cameco's core values: safety and environment, people, integrity and excellence.
Electronics Technology students between their first and second year of schooling were invited to apply for a temporary position that would allow them to put into practice some of the skills they learned in their first year of education.
Kyle Isfan currently registered in SIAST's Electronic Systems Engineering Technology Program was chosen as this year's candidate.
Below is Kyle working hard to improve his repair and troubleshooting skills.

"I've always wanted to work in the nuclear or automotive electronics field," he said. "Working for alphaNUCLEAR and for Cameco is one of my dream jobs. I'm only here for a limited time, but I can already see what I do helps with the big picture," he continued. alphaNUCLEAR staff couldn't agree more. Kyle was able to help with repair work and he had a critical role in our current ore grade scanner projects. Thanks for all your hard work and we wish you well in your up-coming school year.

Bucket/Scoop Scanner Development
In Summer 2010, alphaNUCLEAR was commissioned to build the next generation of underground bucket/scoop ore grade scanners for Cameco's McArthur River mine.
Here we see the design team when the first two underground bucket/scoop scanners were nearing completion. Months of hard work certainly paid off... The biggest challenge was developing a new PC based operating software to work with existing hardware. alphaNUCLEAR wanted to make the next generation of scanners backwards compatible with existing technology. This not only provided a cost-savings to the customer but allowed for an easier transition to the new product.
Pictured below are the underground scanner installation and the finished, working product.
